Thika greens captain Henry Kinyua will lead other golfers at Winston Churchill Cuo, the 4th round of Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) at the par 72 Thika Sports club over the weekend.
According to the draw released by the club, the annual event has attracted about 90 golfers who will be battling for points and earn a slot for the 2024 Magical Kenya Open (MKO).
Kinyua said that apart from playing golf in the 54-hole tournament that tees off on Friday morning to Sunday afternoon, the golfers will be using the opportunity to associate and talk not just about golf but business.
“Golf is a good game where it is not just all about playing but a social game where interactions are made especially in business,” said Kinyua.
Playing handicap 16, the golfer said that he has been training for the event as he will be making his debut in the series that teed off at the Sigona for Sigona Bow, Windsor for Windsor Classic and Muthaiga Open at Muthaiga.
However, Kinyua and other players will be seeking to win their maiden titles in the series after Michael Karanga from Kiambu winning all the three titles. Karanga, who missed to represent Kenya at the MKO, has taken the lead in the KAGC table.
Other top players will be using the event to gain more points to earn a slot into team kenya to represent the country in various amateur championships.
Series leader Karanga will be up against J.M wakimani and M. Karoki in a flight that will tee off at 8:20 am. The first to tee off will be Dennis Gakuo, P. Kibiku and Erick Karagu at 6:30am followed by Vincent Chesumei, George Nduati and John Gitonga ten minutes later.
