Janeth Jepkosgei will be returning back from maternity leave with her focus in adding a Commonwealth Games title she last won in 2006 in Melbourne, Australia but in the different lane away from her favourite 800m.
The 2007 IAAF World championships 800m champion said she has decided to take on another challenge, though on track but in a different race that she did not mention.
Coming from Kibirirsang in Nandi County, the 2008 Olympic Games silver medalist was optimistic that she will be seeking gold medal in the Gold Coast, New Zealand in April.
“Am back from maternity leave and soon you will see me wearing different attire away from 800m. I have done a lot in the two lap race and that will be a surprise for everyone,” said Jepkosgei who was accompanied by 2013 IAAF world 800m champion Eunice Sum.
The ‘Eldoret Express’ athlete said she has intensified her training and ready to face other competitors.
“Right now am focusing on coming back to full fitness after two years out of competition. Apart from the Commonwealth Games, I also want to do the world indoor championships,” added the 2002 world junior champion.
Now the mother to one Olympia, Jepkosgei became a house hold name and wants to resume what she used to do best.
