Kenya’s fast rising middle distance runner Emmaculate Anyango Achol has been suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for violating anti-doping rules.
Anyano, the 2024 Sirikwa Classic Cross Country champion has provisionally been suspended for the presence/use of a prohibited substance (Testosterone and EPO), which may attract four years ban.
The 24-year-old was awarded the Sports Personality of the Month award for February by the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) after coming close to breaking the world 10km world record in February.
Anyango finished second behind world 10km record holder Agnes Jebet Ngetich after clocking 28:47 in Valencia before finishing 4th at the World Cross-Country Championships in Serbia.
