Former coach Peter Erickson petitions Ruth Chepng’etich world marathon record

Former Britain and Canada athletics coach Peter Erickson has petitioned the ratification of Ruth Chepng’etich world marathon record holder’s eligibility.

Chepng’etich, who set the mixed World marathon record with victory at the 2024 Chicago Marathon at 2:09.56, has baffled critics that they could not belief a woman can run such time.

Last month, her record was ratified by the World Athletics becoming the first female marathoner to run under 2:10 after lowering Ethiopian Tigist Assefa record of 2:11:53.

Her record has angered Erickson, that he can’t let Chepng’etich celebrate her record after December 11th ratification.

Eriksson has filed an online petition against the world record, claiming her achievement “exceeds the limits of female human potential.”

He accused the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), World Athletics and the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) of failing to prevent widespread doping in athletics while requesting the three entities to release the tests and records of Chepng’etich in the 12 months leading to the 2024 Chicago Marathon.
