In the tournament won by Shanti Shah, Tuwei, the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) national vice chairman said young people will take over from them after retiring therefore they should have an opportunity to showcase their talents now.

Tuwei received the baton from Moses Tanui who completed his one year tenure as the captain.

The new captain will be assisted by Charles Ng’ang’a.

Tuwei said they wish to have a very fruitful year in his captainship by trying to push for several tournaments.

“We are trying to encourage young guys, the junior golfers to prove their game so that they can join national team,” said Tuwei.

He said that juniors are very important at this level and even just in Eldoret but Kenya Golf Union (KGU) also emphasized so much on junior golf.

“Any event or sport needs to be nurtured from the bottom and the bottom from us are the juniors because if we don’t have a junior system and have seniors only makes no sense and one of us when we retire who takes over,” questioned Tuwei.

Concerning tournament at the club, Tuwei was optimistic that the club will host quality tournaments.

“What I normally believe is that there is no competition of captains but it is all about running through the process and systems in the club. Where possible we will try and push for quality tournaments,” concluded Tuwei.
