Fears continue to grow among athletics lovers in the country after youngster Kamar Etiang claimed that there are forces to force him out of Olympic Games team set for Tokyo, Japan.
The West Pokot born athlete, who finished second at the national trials last month in men’s 1,500m could also miss out for failing to meet the anti-doping rules.
Etiang has done two out of the required three tests, but they were done one week apart.
The 19-year-old Etiang only met his Olympic qualifying time at the trials, clocking 3:33.12 to finish second behind Charles Simotwo in 3:33.02.
Abel Kipsang wound third in 3:34.36 to seal the first three places for the Olympics.
But this has not gone down well with Etyang who took to the facebook page claiming that people are behind his woes.
He started: “This is my heartbreaking story. My name is Kamara Etyang. 19yrs old from a very humble background in Turkana. I have been training for 1,500m since in primary and secondary school with a lot of challenges like lack of school fees, and sometimes lack of food and mostly lack of support to achieve my dreams and my prayer towards my dream was to make into the Kenya Olympics team. This year, with relentless efforts, and unwavering focus, I trained so hard despite of many challenges I’ve encountered.”
He continued: “I managed to go for trials for 1,500m for Olympics in Kasarani stadium, Nairobi and I was position 2. I deeply thank God for that chance…but am very sad because they want to remover me from the team yet the first top three crossing the line, automatically qualified to go for Tokyo Olympics. To be sincere it is really breaking my heart. Why would anyone want to steal my hard earned Olympic dream after toiling day and night for the dream?”
