Eliud Kipchoge in partnership with ABSA Bank cushioned over 300 vulnerable athletes in North Rift today.
In the programme, he said that ABSA had injected kshs 1,5000 in each station (Iten in Elgeyo Marakwet, Kapsabt in Elgeyo Marakwet and Kapsabet in Nandi County) to support 300 athletes.
“Am one of the athletes who knows the importance of having a good stomach before you go for a run. That is why I started the program of donating food to vulnerable athletes. We are behind athletes and they need to train hard. As human beings we are one,” he added.
ABSA Bank’s Director Finance, Corporate and Investment Moses Muthui said as athletes they need to follow their dreams to succeed in life.
“I want to comment on Eliud for what he is doing on young upcoming potential athletes who are the future pride for this country. When you have succeeded in your career, it’s good to support others. We are human and we need to share what we have,” said Muthui.
he added that they want to help advance not just athletes but sports in general he need to be deeply honoured to support the fight against covid in this difficult time.
“It is a tough time for athletes and you now athletes make their living and career out there and it is difficult now. With the little that we have been privileged with. We fully understand that you can’t be successful unless our athletes are successful too, especially young ones who need a partner to be with them,” he said.
“If you think about Kenya, it is made up of young people and we need to make them fully engaged in sports to become a business entity. We need a thriving youth in Kenya because sports pay. We want Kenya to be the pride of sports in the world from low to high level. We have chosen sports as our core brand,” Muthui concluded.
