Double Olympic Games marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge will face off with Amos Kipruto at the 2023 Berlin Marathon set for September 24th in Berlin, Germany.
Kipchoge, who broken two world marathon records on the course in 2018 and 2022 will be chasing his 5th title on the course after breaking the record with 30 seconds off his own World Record of 2:01.19.
He won the race in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022 and returns to Berlin for the 5th title.
In a statement, Kipchoge said: “On my road to the Paris Olympics, I would like to go back to the Berlin Marathon since this will grant me perfect preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. I have great memories of Germany City and I look forward to running the streets of Berlin again together with the thousands of fans that will join,” added Kipchoge.
This year, he finished 6th at the Boston marathon.
Kipchoge and Kipruto will renew their rivalry that rekindles way back in 2018 when Kipruto finished second behind winner Kipchoe who set the world record at 2:01.39.
Kipruto, the 2022 London marathon champion and finished second in the 2022 Tokyo Marathon will be on the look-out for the podium.
