Kipngeno and Adkins crowned Mountain Running World Cup champions

Kenya’s super Mountain runner Patrick Kipngeno won the Val Bregaglia Trail yesterday to secure the Valsir Mountain Running World Cup title.

Both Kipngeno and Joyce Muthoni Njeru were the winners of the Sunday race but Great Britain’s Scout Adkin was crowned the overall title winner alongside Kipngeno after the conclusion of the series.

Kipngeno, who has been running in many races, gathered 330 points that were enough to see him win the overall title but Njeru on 313 points lost the overall title to Adkin on point difference at 339.

Back at Bregaglia, Kipngeno won the title in 1:34:03 in the 23km distance ahead of compatriot Paul Machoka in 1:34:22 with Theodore Klein completing the podium at 1:34:53.

In women, Njeru won the title at 1:47:45 with Jeruto Kisang coming second in   1:48:44 and Adkin completing the podium at 1:48:51.
