Over the weekend, photos of Kenyan runner Simon Cheprot were flushed to social media platforms on how he expressed his humanity in helping fellow athlete to cross the finish line during the 7th edition of Okpekpe 10km Road race, the IAAF Bronze Label Road Race in Nigeria.
Cheprot, who was chasing his second title following the 2016 win guided his compatriot Kenneth Kipkemoi hence missing out to win the race, which he had the potential.
Cheprot who won the title in 2016 said: “Running does not mean we are at war, we are friends. When you see your friend falling you come and help, running means healthy, unity and love,” said Cheprot.
He said that he doesn’t run to earn of money, but creating unity all over the world
“I don’t run because of money, we are running for unity, health and love. We don’t run alone we run with people from across the world,” concluded Cheprot.
