Moses Kiptanui Dispensary commissioned in Eldoret

Three-time world 3,000m steeplechase champion Moses Kiptanui has had his name in the health sector after dominating on track, representing Kenya at the global stage and setting up various business entities in the country.

Today, the former world 3,000m steeplechase record holder has another belt tagged under him when Moses Kiptanui Dispensary was launched today in Kiplombe, Uasin Gishu County.

The water and barrier specialist won three world titles in a row, starting with 1991 in Tokyo, followed in 1993 at Stuttgart and two years later in Gothenburg.

Also the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games 3,000m steeplechase silver medalist said it is a small dispensary that will be helping locals during that emergency time.

“The facility, for now has two beds and one nurse as the beginning but we are looking forward for better health in this area,” said Kiptanui.

He narrated that the small, came about when the residents gave out land to develop the facility to serve them since many health services are far.

 “This place was not developed by me but the locals in partnership with National Government Constituency Development Funds through this partnership, people will enjoy such health services,” added Kiptanui.

He added that his name has been known globally and use of his name will be great.

“Anywhere travel across the world my name, people talk well after what I did while an athlete and through that my name has been growing and thus using the name to make locals happy throughout their lives,” added Kiptanui.

Uasin Gishu county governor Jackson Mandago officially open the Moses Kiptanui Dispensary in the Kuinet/Kapsuswo Ward.

Mandago said the dispensary will serve to decongest Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) and other Hospitals by treating minor ailments. The dispensary will serve more than 2000 people.

“The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment in ensuring that all the projects he started will be completed and commissioned,” said Mandago.
