Obiri and Chelimo wins first medals for Kenya in Oregon

Two time world 5,000m champion Hellen onsando Obiri and Margaret Kipkemboi Chelimo won the first medals for Kenya at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA.

Competing in the 10,000m, Obiri won silver behind champion Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia, who is the world record holder in the distance as Chelimo settled for bronze.

Obiri won silver in 30:10.02 as Gidey won gold in 30:00.94 and Chelimo’s 30:10.07 while defending champion Sifani Hassan was 4th timing 30:10.56.
