Kenya Harlequins have hired the services of former club player Patrice Agunda as head coach following the exit of Paul Murunga who left the club three days ago.
Agunda will lead the Quins for the 2025 National Sevens Circuit and the 2025/2026 Kenya Cup season, as he will be ready to defend the 7s title won by Murunga last season.
Agunda, a former Kenya international and Harlequins player has been promoted after leading in various roles at the club in the technical bench such as skills coach, 7s coach, and assistant coach.
As a player, he was the captain winning three Kenya Cups, three Rugby Super Series titles, an Enterprise Cup, and a National Sevens Circuit title and inducted into the club’s Roll of Honor in 2014.
Internationally, Agunda represented Kenya in both 15s and 7s, earning accolades with the Kenya Simbas and Shujaa.
He was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2013 Rugby Sevens World Cup and featured at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He also captained regional teams, including the Elgon Warriors in 2021.
