Petronila Muombe wins double jump at KDF championships

Petronila Muombe won two titles in the ongoing Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Track and Field championships at Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Muombe won in women’s long jump and triple jump as she prepares to compete at the world championships in Doha, Qatar.

In her first event, Nanyuki based jumper won long jump in 5.87m before winding with triple jump in 12.26m.

Alexander Kiprotich and Salome Moraa won in javelin after throwing 72.78m and 47.17m in men and women respectively.

But Emily Ngii ended Grace Wanjiru dominance in women’s 20km walk.

Ngii from Nanyuki won the race in 1:39.09 as Wanjiru was second in 1:39.27.

In men’s race, Simon Wachira dominated the race winning in 1:27.06 followed by experienced Peter Theuri (1:28.56) and Nichodemus Musau in 1:32.33 for third position.
