The Kevin Wambua coached side lost 19-12 to Samoa in the opening match, went ahead to win 26-14 win over Portugal in the second match.
Facing yet another Challenger Series side in Portugal, Shujaa were determined to reignite their top-four hopes and avoid an early exit.
Patrick Odongo Okong’o, who is in contention for the top try scorer title this season, sealed the win with Shujaa’s fourth try—his 21st of the season.
With the win, Kenya now move to four points, level with Samoa, while USA top the group with six points.
Kenya will take on the hosts USA in their final group stage match at 9:20 p.m.
