Harambee Starlets lost to Malawi in the first leg of the second round of 2020 Olympic qualifiers in Malawi.
Hosts won 3-2 against visiting Kenya ahead of their return leg on Sunday at Kasarani.
Madina Nguluwe scored for Malawi in the 13th minute beating custodian Annete Kundu before Mwanahalima Adam but hosts restored the lead courtesy Tabitha Chiwanga for a 2-1 lead as Tabitha Chiwanga converted the penalty in the 39th minute.
Elizabeth Wambui scored the second goal for Kenya for 3-2 win into the net. The aggregate winner will Ghana or Gabon in the third round of the qualifiers.
