Sujan Shah, Tranos Muradzikwa at inaugural Malawi Open

Sigona Club’s Sujan Shah tied with Zimbabwean golfer Tranos Muradzikwa on the penultimate of the inaugural Malawi Golf Open ongoing on par 72 Lilongwe Golf Club.

The Kenyan professional golfer Shah and Muradzikwa fired two under par 142 to tie on top as the tournament comes to an end on Saturday after two rounds.

With a field of 35 professionals and amateurs making the cut into the last round, Shah shot level par 72 to add on his opening round  of two under par 70 while Muradzikwa who returned the best round so far in the tournament, a three under par 69 to add on his one over 73.

Zambian amateur Kelly Tembo shot level par 144 to take third place and with the possibility of annoying the professionals depending on how he plays the weekend.

Kenyan professional Simon Ngige fired two over par 74 in the second round for a total of two over par 146 to remain in fourth place and still with the possibility of winning the trophy and the first cash prize of $ 6,375 (Sh637,500).

David Wakhu, who moved from 14th to fifth place, shot the par-72 level to raise his total score to three over par 147, tying with four others, including his compatriot Dismas Indiza, the Zambians Patrick Mwendapole and Dayne Moore, as well as the Douglas Roux of Namibia.

On the other hand, with the exception of Stefan Andersen, based in South Africa, Anil Shah, based in Zambia, and Ganeev Giddie, Muthaiga, the rest of the Kenyans made the cut in the event that is part of the “Warm Heart Pro Tour” “which is held under the auspices of the Association of Professional Golfers of Malawi.
