Kenya team will be hoping to retain their overall title as world cross country championships kicks off in Arhus, Denmark tomorrow afternoon at Moesgaard Museum.

Former Tokyo marathom champion Geoffrey Kamworor will be targeting a hat-trick to add on his world half marathon hat trick he set last year in Valencia while top notch hellen Obiri, the all surface runner will be chasing her maiden medal in cross country.

Kamworor has enjoyed the dominance for long in senior men’s 10km as he targets to follow the footsteps of Paul Tergat (five times0, John Ngugi (five times) and Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele.

He will be marshalling forces with Paul Tanui and Rhonex Kipruto Amos Kirui and Richard Kimunyan.
Competing 10km for the first time, reigning Commonwealth Games 5,000m champion Obiri will be transiting into another calsss if she manages to get a medal.
Obiri has moved from her 1,500m to 5,00m now in 10km and will be teaming up with world 3,000m steeplechase world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech.
Upstart Samuel Chebolei will lead under 20 or 8km junior men category with Commonwealth Youth Games 3,000m champion Edwin Kiplagat Bett, world under 20 3,000m steeplechase silver medalist Leonard Bett and world under 18 silver medalist Cleophas Kandie.
World under 20 5,00m champion Beatrice Chebet will be obn card for under 20 or 6km junior women category in hunt for medals for the country.
