Top junior golfer will converge to Eldoret for this year’s Moses Tanui Inter-Regional Junior Golf Tournament on par 71 Eldort Golf Club.
The immediate club captain said six regions across the country have confirmed competing in the three day tournament set to tee off on Thursday 6th to Saturday 8th as part of taping and nurturing golf career among junior golfers.
Best known as Mr. Boston due to his two titles at the Boston marathon, Tanui confirmed that Mombasa, Nairobi, Mount Kenya, Central, Western, South Rift and North Rift regions have confirmed competing in the tournament.
The 1991 world 10,000m champion said the tournament was started to tap, nurture and excel young golfers to become professional golfers in future.
“We are well prepared for the event and we are expecting a large turnout since this is a holiday with many junior golfers enjoying the holiday. This will be their great opportunity to showcase their talents,” said Tanui, the founder of Eldoret City Marathon.
“We are targeting under 21 golfers starting from Thursday 6th to Saturday 8th in a medal format play,” added Tanui, the 1991 world 10,000m champion.
He also won the 1995 world half marathon title, Vienna marathon among other races tagged under his medal cabinet.
