Former world cross country champion Agnes Tirop Jebet and world under 20 10,000m champion Rhonex Kipruto won the 11th edition of Tuskys cross country titles to drive home new cars in Eldoret’s Huruma Ground today.
Jebet, who is targeting to reclaim her world cross country title she last won in 2015 said she came prepared knowing how crowded the field was with experienced athletes.

After winning Chebara cross country meeting, Jebet defeated former Africa 3,000m steeplechase champion Norah Jeruto, former world 2,000m steeplechase champion Sandra Chebet among others to emerge victorious.
She stopped the timer in 33:14.5 ahead of Jeruto (33:34.8) and Chebet’s 33:37.4.

“The race was tactical and I want to reclaim my world cross title next year,” said Tirop.
Rhonex Kipruto, who missed the world 10km road race with two seconds showed his clear intentions to win the race with just 2km.
Kipruto, who stormed into the lead in the first lap, opened the gap and went ahead to claim the title in 29:38.1 ahead of new comers Davis Kimeli (29:55.9) and Shadrack Kimutai for third position in 30:07.3.
“This was part of my training as I head for a series of cross countries across the world,” said Kipruto who admitted that he knew the race was to be tuff hence stepping into the lead early.
