David Wakhu led a list of nine Kenyan golfers to qualify in tomorrow’s third round of the third edition of KCB Karen Masters on par 74 Karen Country and golf club.
As Portugese international Stephen Ferreira enjoys a three shot lead in the standing after second round of the championships.
Coming from Golf Park, Wakhu shot two under par 70 to round off the second round with five under par 139 in the 13th followed by Muthaiga’s Greg Snow in 23rd and Jeff Kubwa on three under par 141.
Other Kenyan golfers who have made the cut include Simon Ngige who played two under par 70, Mumias’ Dismas Indiza who shot one over par 73, Justus Madoya, Riz Charania, John Wangai and amateur Simon Njogu of the Great Rift Valley Golf Resort, who fired two under par 70, having started with two over par 74 in the first round.
This is the highest number of Kenyan players to make the cut in the Masters and even the Kenya Open.
Round two leader Ferreira, who broke the course record on the opening round fired 6 under par 66 in the second round, adding on his ten under par on Thursday to make it 16 under par 128 followed by South African Toto Thimba in second with three shots more after a brilliant nine under par 63.
