Laliga East Africa Delegate Alvaro Abreu the country has full potential to be a football powerhouse if the young people are nurtured from the grassroots.
“This LaLiga Eldoret Cup is a celebration and reward of the effort and commitment put by the community on developing grassroots academies and youth players. They play a big role in using football as a vehicle for social improvement no matter their background. It also means an effort from LaLiga to be closer to its fans and reach as many places as possible of the country,
showing the commitment of the brand to go beyond his role of Spanish professional
competition organiser,” says Abreu.
He added that the intention with this first edition is to give all teams and partners a nice quality experience and show the region the possibilities and the benefits these type of collaboration can have.
“We hope it also encourage other sponsors to join in following editions after the success of this one so we can increase the reach in the future and keep promoting talent and sport values. We want more people to realise and see the value LaLiga can offer to many local partners not only in grassroots department but in other areas too, positioning their brands aligned with our mission and the huge football passion in the country. We are totally open to hear different proposals and tailor made collaboration packages and commercial agreements for mutual benefit. Kenya is a great nation when it comes to football talent and for that to be realized, we need to start from the bottom level by nurturing these young players to attain their full talent,” said Abreu.
Event organizer and host Obadiah Kiptoo said that the event was an exciting initiative that promotes grassroots football in Kenya and bring the La Liga experience to local communities.
“We want to make sure young talents don’t go to waste when such initiatives are meant to support them at their youthful stages,” he said.
