President Uhuru Kenyatta joined a host of Kenya leaders to mourn former world 400m hurdles champions Nicholas Bett who died on Wednesday morning in a road accident.

On his twitter account @UKenyatta the president with other social media pundits in morning the 28-year-old runner.
“Deeply saddened by the death of former 400m hurdles World Champion Nicholas Bett who died today in a tragic road accident. Bett earned the country great honours in his outstanding victories. My deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives and friends,” President Kenyatta posted on Twitter.
Athletics Kenya official handle @athletics_kenya sent their condolences handle.
“We regret to learn of the sudden demise of one of our top athletes, the 2015 400m Hurdles World Champion #NicholasKiplagatBett who represented Kenya in the just concluded Africa Championships. Our condolences to his family and the entire athletics fraternity.

He surprisingly won a Gold medal in the men’s 400m hurdles, setting a Kenyan record of 47.79, the fastest time in the World that year.
“Former 400m hurdles World Champion Nicholas Bett has died in a road accident in Nandi County. On behalf of the sporting fraternity and @moscakenya I convey my sincerest condolences to his family .Rest in peace,” Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa on Twitter.
