Sammy Kitwara targeting Valencia marathon title

Fresh from pacing for Eliud Kipchoge for the world marathon record, 2009 Rotterdam Half marathon champion Sammy Kitwara will be targeting to win the 2018 Valencia marathon set for December 2nd in Spain.

Kitwara who has recovered from hamstring injury he suffered during the Berlin marathon and dropped out at 15km said he has recovered ready for the Valencia challenge.

“I was to pace up to 30km but the pain I felt did not allow me to continue. Any time I moved my leg, there was sharp pain that I could not contain,” said Kitwara during the Ziwa Farmers’ Road Race Launch in Eldoret.

the former Dam Tot Damloop champion said he will be taking on opponents well in the fight for top honours.

“I have been training well for the race and I hope I will come out with a win,” added the three time Bay To Breakers champion.
