Kenya’s Dismas Indiza concluded Kitante Open, the 10th leg of the 2019/2020 Safari Tour at Kitante golf club in Uganda.
Indiza posted a final round score of 1-under par 71 to take his total for the tournament to level-par 288 to emerge the top Kenyan at the 2020 Kitante Open; and finishing second overall.
He carded a front nine total of 34 courtesy of birdies at the par-5 first, par-5 third, the par-3 fourth and the par-5 eighth; having only dropped a shot at the par-4 second.
At the back nine, he got off to a double bogey at the par-4 10th before following it up with a bogey at the par-3 11th. He, however, holed his only birdie of the back nine at the par-5 13th to card a back nine total of 37 having held par on the rest of the holes.
His effort was two shots shy off the lead which was ultimately claimed by Nigeria’s Andrew Odoh who continued with his steady form at the tournament to post a 2-over par 74 score to take his total to 2-under par 286. On the front nine, he carded a total of 37 courtesy of birdies at the par-5, firs, the par-5 fifth and the par-5, eighth.
He however dropped shots at the par-4 second, the par-3, sixth and the par-4 seventh.
On the back, he got off to consecutive bogeys at the par-4 10th and the par-3 11th before dropping another shot at the par-5 13th. He holed his first birdie on the back nine at the par-4 14th before dropping another shot at the par-5 15th. He however holed another birdie at the par-4 16th to card a back nine total of 37.
Zimbabwe’s Robson Chinhoi ended his Kitante campaign in third having posted a final round score of 73 to take his total for the tourney to 2-over par 290.
Uganda’s Phillip Kasozi finished as the highest-ranked Ugandan at the event having finished fourth after a final-round score of 75 took his total to 3-over par 291.
Vet Lab’s Edwin Mudanyi was the second-highest ranked Kenyan at the end of the tournament having finished tied in fifth alongside Uganda’s Ronald Rugumayo; while Mathew Omondi finished in eighth.
Thika Golf Club’s Simon Ngige finished tied in eighth alongside Ugandan Dennis Anguyo while Muthaiga’s Greg Snow finished tied in 15th place. Other Kenyans in the field, Isaiah Otuke and Sujan Shah, finished tied in 18th and solitary 21st respectively.
With one leg of the 2019/2020 Safari Golf Tour Series remaining, it is Indiza who leads the ranking with 395.1 points; having leapfrogged both Simon Ngige (381.9 points) and Greg Snow (376.5 points) who are now second and third respectively in the ranking.
