This is a team of unit, says Peter Chesang after re-elected as Uasin Gishu FKF chairman

Newly elected Uasin Gishu Football Kenya Federation (FKF) chairman Peter Chesang has called on all stakeholders to work together and boost football in the county.

Chesang, who retained his seat after edging out his main rival and former secretary Oliver Kiptoo said that for the sport to grow, they have to work together even with the opponents and other football lovers to make the sport attractive.

He said that today’s elections were transparent, accountable and democratic.

“When we talk about elections today, we were very peaceful, transparent, accountable and democracy has prevailed. Going forward, we need to support our leagues, source funds to capacitate local teams, referees and improve the sport in the county with structures from sub counties,” said Chesang.

He said with elections, they need not only change football at the grassroots but up to the national level.

“Elections is a symbol of change, improvements and making manifestos to be well implemented. We had smooth elections and for those who were opposing us are our brothers that we need to work as a team,” added Chesang.

This comes at a time when his main rival for the chairman’s post Kiptoo was his secretary. However, he said that election is behind and the focus is on implementing what they promised electorates.

“My main opponent was my secretary but we go through challenges and we look for the positive side. We need to unite and see how we can work together. Last regime, we had challenges and mistrust but now, we need to unite Uasin Gishu for the good of the sport,” he said.

The county was run by two factions:  The FKF and the Football Association where the chairman said that they have come together to improve the game.

His secretary Joshua Ariko belonged to the Football Association, former chairman Paul Tororei was the chairman of the Association.

“We decided to work together and before we started campaigning, we had an MOU from all of us. The two factions that kept us lag behind. Now that we are one, we have to source for funds to support the teams, and we are not new to each other,” he said.
