All three Kenyans have qualified to compete at the 1,500m semifinals at the ongoing Paris Olympic Games in France.
Competing in the first heat, national 1,500m champion Brian Komen was the first Kenyan to make it to the semifinals after finishing second in heat one when he timed 3:36.31 behind the winner Josh Kerr from the Great Britain at 3:35.83 as Norwegian Narve Gilje Nordas completing the podium at 3:36.41.
Two time world 1,500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot also made it into the semis despite finishing in position 5 at 3:35.39.
The heat was won by Ethiopian Ermia Girma (3:35.21) followed y USA’s Cole Hocker (3:35.27), Italian Pietro Arese (3:35.30) and Dutch Niels Laros at 3:35.38 as his season best.
Another kenyan Reynold Kipkorir Cheruiyot made it to the semis with 4th position after timing 3:37.12 in a heat won by Dutch Stefan Nillessen (3:36.77) ahead of USA’s Hobbs Kessler (3:36.87) and Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen (3:37.04) with Great Britain’s Neil Gourley in 6th.
